Who we are
DGHP has a unique approach to its role as the second largest housing association in Scotland.
At DGHP, we feel that working with our tenants is absolutely crucial to the success of the organisation. DGHP is about more than just new houses – we change homes and transform lives.
DGHP owns and maintains more than 10,200 homes across Dumfries and Galloway. We feel that the significant emphasis we place on our tenants being at the heart of everything we do makes us different from other housing associations.
We directly employ 237 people, and through our various maintenance and investment contracts we are responsible for the employment of many local construction industry workers.
At DGHP, we are all extremely proud of our achievements and 2013 sees us celebrate our tenth anniversary.
In our short history, we have already more than £192 million in improving and maintaining our tenants homes, we have achieved all of our promises we made to our tenants back in 2003 as well as undertaking the largest regeneration project in the region - building new homes in north west Dumfries and in Stranraer.
The area of Dumfries and Galloway is the third largest region in Scotland, covering 2,380 square miles, with a population of around 148,000 and DGHP plays a significant role in many of the towns and villages.
We operate a governance structure that enables tenants to have a valued input into the ownership and management of their homes, keeping decision making for our tenants at a local level.
