Where do I start?

Dumfries and Galloway Council deal with all enrolments and any requests for places at local primary and secondary schools from parents. Their website has an excellent “Find my nearest” tool, which when you enter your new address gives you everything from where your nearest polling station is to where your catchment area for schools is.    

Dumfries and Galloway Council changed the way children are registered for their free pre-school education places. There is now one registration for all children eligible for pre-school education in the next school year, 2012-13 (Monday 20 August 2012-Tuesday 2 July 2013).

When do I enrol my child?

Parents in Dumfries and Galloway are invited to enrol their children for pre-school education (3 and 4 year olds) or at primary schools (5 year olds).

Parents of eligible children were invited to register their places for entitlement on Wednesday 29 February 2012 and Thursday 1 March 2012. Registration is now closed for this school year.
