There are loads of benefits that come with being a library member. First of all, you can borrow a wide variety of items free of charge. You can hire DVDs, CDs and games. You can use the PCs and attend training courses and more! Joining is easy. Walk into any of Dumfries and Galloway's libraries and ask for a membership form. Remember to take some proof of identification to ensure you can join immediately, a driving licence is perfect. Once you have completed the membership form and your ID has been accepted, a card will be issued which grants you membership to all the libraries in the region.

If you want to sign your children up for library membership, you must provide a guarantor to make sure any items are safely returned. Once accepted, children are given their own membership card too, which they can use to borrow their own books.

Membership is free and many of the services local libraries offer are free too, such as book lending or internet access. There are charges made for some of the services and charges are displayed in all libraries.
