Volunteering is one of the most rewarding ways to spend your free time. Volunteer Scotland is a bit like a recruitment website. All the available opportunities are listed and you can pick different options and search to find the best opportunity for you.
There are plenty of options to explore from working with young people to being out on the streets fundraising. The regional Volunteer Scotland website is available here and gives even more information about what you can do in Dumfries and Galloway.
You can even volunteer with the countryside team at Dumfries and Galloway Council. Volunteers take part in practical activities like planting trees, as well as taking guided walks with full training being provided. More information is available here.
The Food Train service has been in place in Dumfries and Galloway since 1995, supporting elderly people in their homes by doing basic shopping for them and delivering it to their homes. The service operates all over the region and you can apply to join the team of volunteers here.
