Changes have been made to DGHP’s award-winning Community Pride Fund, to bring it more in line with the company’s objectives. From this year, the fund will include criteria aimed at supporting tenancy sustainment and financial inclusion. The decision was taken recently by members of DGHP’s District Management Committees, who allocate the fund each year to local groups and organisations. The fund will now give priority to projects submitted by formally constituted groups meeting the following conditions – those focusing on DGHP tenancy sustainment/financial inclusion, for example, starter packs or furniture projects, to help support tenants moving from temporary accommodation to a secure tenancy or projects providing guidance and support to DGHP tenants. However, DGHP will still continue to look at projects which will enhance quality of life in areas where our tenants reside, e.g. promoting safe, healthy and vibrant communities, providing support for events that encourage community cohesion and improving the environment. DGHP’s Community Participation Manager, Margaret McKeand, said: “We don’t want to discourage any group or organisation applying for this grant money, but we did feel it was right to amend the criteria to try and give priority to those who meet our objectives.” The 2012 Community Pride Fund will be launched in April 2012 – look out for more details in the local press. |
