DGHP's 2012 Community Pride Fund open for applications

Mar 30, 2012

DGHP is proud to announce the launch of our 2012/2013 Community Pride Fund. DGHP is committed to working towards building better communities across Dumfries and Galloway and the fund was established to encourage our tenants and others to work together to improve their local community.

Who can apply?

If you are a community, voluntary or charitable group that is fully constituted (a not-for-profit organisation), you can apply for one grant during this financial year (April 1 2012 to March 31 2013).

Who can’t apply?

You cannot apply if you are a:

  • Local authority
  • Registered social landlord
  • For-profit organisation
  • An individual

How much can you apply for?

You can claim a grant for the following amounts:

For smaller projects – between £100 and £1,000. These could include garden projects or community events.

For larger projects – Up to a maximum of £5,000. These could be arts projects, play facilities, events to promote multi-culture and inclusion of under-represented community groups.

Where does the project need to be?

The project needs to be in one of the following areas:

  • Annandale and Eskdale
  • Nithsdale
  • Stewartry
  • Wigtown and the west

Criteria for projects

The project for which you are applying for must meet at least one of the following objectives:

  • Priority will be given to projects that;
  • Focus on DGHP tenancy sustainment or financial inclusion e.g.  Starter Pack or Furniture projects, to help support tenants moving from temporary accommodation to a secure tenancy or projects and providing financial guidance and support to DGHP tenants.

We will also consider projects that;

  • Enhance the quality of life in areas where DGHP tenants reside e.g. promote safe, healthy and vibrant communities, provide support for events that encourage community cohesion and improve the environment: e.g. (community clean-up projects, local community events, community allotments and garden projects and healthy affordable eating projects; and
  • Encourage community participation that will positively impact on DGHP tenants and their families by e.g. use of volunteers, fundraising to contribute to the project.

You can use the grant money to pay for tools or equipment, materials or even expenses for your volunteers.

The closing date for the return of applications is Thursday May 31 2012 at 5pm. No applications will be accepted after this deadline.

What happens next?

All grant awards are subject to the availability of funds. Our four District Management Committees – Nithsdale, Annandale and Eskdale, Stewartry and Wigtown – look at the applications for their own area and decide which groups receive money from the fund.

We hope to give you a decision by early August 2012.
