DGHP staff are visiting various villages across the region this summer to focus some activities in the smaller villages in Dumfries and Galloway. We have hired the Federation of Tenants and Residents’ bus and will be spending time in villages and small towns over the coming months. The bus will be parked up in central locations in each of the villages and tenants will be notified by post that the bus will be near you before the date. The bus is still to visit villages in the Stewartry area and in Wigtown and will be heading towards the coast from the beginning of July. Not only will tenants and applicants have the opportunity to speak to DGHP staff, but members of local tenants associations will also be in attendance to answer questions and offer advice. The staff on the bus will be able to discuss matters relating to repairs, tenancy issues, garden maintenance and kitchen/bathroom installations. We will also be able to talk to tenants about any concerns they may have about paying rent or housing benefit. We are also keen to learn about the communities our tenants are living in and what we can help with around their neighbourhoods in the future. The staff on the bus will be more than happy to visit you at you, and anyone who has mobility problems or would find coming to the bus problematic are more than welcome to contact us to organise a suitable time for our staff to visit you at home. We will be trying to talk to as many tenants as possible during the course of the day when we visit each village – so don’t be surprised if you get a knock at your door. We intend to visit every tenant if we don’t get many visitors to our bus. If you would like a home visit when the bus is visiting a village near you, please telephone our Customer Service Centre on 0800 011 3447 and an appointment will be organised.
