Families across Dumfries and Galloway enjoyed two community events held by DGHP last week.

The events – which took place in Annan and Dumfries – aimed to give something back to DGHP customers and the wider community, alongside maintaining DGHP’s strong presence in the area.

Highlights of the summer-themed days included children’s sports activities, face painting, glitter tattoos and raffles as well as a dog show at the Annan event.

Staff from across DGHP – including housing, community safety and regeneration teams, Stronger Voices Officers and Welfare Benefits Advisors – were in attendance to offer advice and information.

Speaking about the Dumfries event, one tenant said: “My little girl loved it.

“When she woke up this morning, she asked if we could go back again today.”

Other community organisations got involved too, including Scottish Fire and Rescue Service, Police Scotland, Dumfries and Galloway Council and Tesco.

Another tenant added: “We loved everything about today.

“My children’s favourite part was going into the police car and turning on the siren.”

Jonny Green, Head of Housing at DGHP said: “Events such as these are important in bringing the wider community together, connecting with our customers and making sure people know we are there for them in these challenging times.

“It’s fantastic to see so many people and families turn out to enjoy the day and connect with our services.”
