DGHP launches search for housing officers

DGHP, part of Wheatley Group, is on the lookout for housing officers who can make a difference – as part of a commitment to bring 500 new jobs to the region.

As part of the partnership agreement with Wheatley, Scotland’s largest housing, care and property-management group, DGHP is now looking for additional housing officers to support customers and their families in the Stranraer area.

The recruitment drive is part of a larger package of commitments to customers across Dumfries and Galloway, which includes improved services, increased investment in homes as well as the creation of 1000 new homes.

Matt Foreman, DGHP’s Managing Director, said: “When the partnership deal between DGHP and Wheatley Group was agreed last year, there was a commitment to not only offering job security to existing employees, but also a promise to create 500 new jobs and training opportunities through investment across the region.

“We are looking for people who are passionate about helping others and making a difference to the lives of our customers and their communities.

“As part of our commitment to increase the size of our team delivering to customers in local communities these additional posts will allow us to shape services for customers and make sure that we really get to know them.”

The housing officers will support customers in patches of 200 homes – among the smallest patch sizes in the UK.

A large number of housing officers have already been appointed across the region, and the last few posts are now open for applications until Friday September 18.

Susan Smith, who has worked for DGHP for nine years, and more recently on DGHP’s EatWell food project through lockdown, has secured one of the new Housing Officer jobs.

She said: “I’ve worked in various departments in DGHP, but it’s always been my goal to be a housing officer. I’m so excited to get started in my new role on my patch of 200 homes and ensuring the services delivered to customers is second to none. I can’t wait to make a difference to customers lives.

Susan had a few words for anyone considering applying for the posts: “If you are passionate about making a difference and willing to work hard for customers, then this is the job for you.”

Applicants have until 10am on Friday September 18 to apply at https://www.dghp.org.uk/recruitment/
