As we have been experiencing better weather recently, you’ll perhaps have been enjoying more time outside and in the garden. You might also have had some visitors to your door offering to do odd jobs around your property and garden.
If you’re not expecting someone make sure to always –
- Ask to see identification (ID) and
- Take time to get quotes – don’t be pressured into making sudden decisions on your doorstep, no matter how nice and friendly they might seem
If you are still in doubt, ask them to wait outside, close your door and call the company the caller says they are from – or call Police Scotland if you’re worried. Legitimate callers will be more than happy to wait until you do this.
Remember as well, DGHP staff will always carry photo ID with them – if you are in doubt, please ask them to wait outside and call us on 0800 011 3447 and we will be able to confirm they work for us.
Police Scotland can also help with advice on staying safe and free home security checks – if you would like a home safety visit, please contact your Housing Officer and we can help arrange this.
