Benefits advice
Dumfries based charity Welfare Rights offer excellent benefits advice. Fully trained Welfare Rights staff now hold a weekly surgery for all sorts of questions at their Lincluden branch. The charity provides vital support for many across the region and the benefits guide on their website is a great place to start is you’re not sure what you are entitled to.
The Council’s Financial Inclusion and Assessment Team (FIAT) are a team made up of Pension service and council staff who have been trained to give benefit and money advice.
The team can help with many different areas of financial advice and help with settling back into civilian life, assessing what benefits you may be entitle to. The team can help with benefits advice, financial education, direct payment support service and money advice.
You can call the team on 0845 603 2836 or email them at fiat@dumgal.gov.uk to arrange an appointment with staff to visit you at home or arrange a suitable time for you to go into one of the offices in Annan, Dumfries, Kirkcudbright or Stranraer.
