Bin collection
In Dumfries and Galloway, wheelie bins or Council refuse sacks are collected weekly.
When you move into your new property, please contact your local Neighbourhood Services office or phone 030 33 33 3000 to ask any questions about when your bin will be emptied, when Council supplied refuse sacks are collected or when communal bins are emptied.
The Council asks that any household waste to be collected should be out on the kerbside for 7.30am on collection day.
If you have extra waste, Council refuse sacks can be bought from your local Customer Service Centre or library at a cost of 50p each. You can also request a bulky uplift (a charge will be incurred depending on the amount of waste), you can arrange this via a Customer Service Centre or by calling 030 33 33 3000. Or you can also take your household waste to the nearest recycling centre, where it can be disposed of free of charge or take the appropriate waste to your local Recycling Point and sort into the correct containers at the sites.
Assisted Pull Out Service
Dumfries and Galloway Council offers a service to residents who may experience difficulty in getting their rubbish ready for collection. If you meet the Council’s criteria, you may be eligible for the assisted pull out service, where the Council will make sure your bin is wheeled to kerb side or Council refuse sacks are ready to be collected.
