A number of welfare and social security benefits are being devolved to the Scottish Parliament, as part of the recommendations made by the Smith Commission. Social Security Scotland has been set up in order to administer these benefits.
These benefits will not all be brought in at once. Benefits are going to be introduced gradually over the next few years.
To date the following benefits have been introduced:-
- Carers Allowance Supplement
- Best Start Grant Pregnancy and Baby Payment
- Best Start Grant Early Learning Payment
- Best Start Grant School Age Payment
- Best Start Foods
- Funeral Support Payment
