DGHP runs a mutual exchange scheme whereby you can apply to exchange your property. If you are an existing tenant of DGHP or one of the Homes4D&G partner landlords and you want to move, one of the ways to do this is by swapping with another tenant who is living in a property belonging to DGHP or a partner landlord in Dumfries and Galloway.
There are several ways you can find another tenant that you would like to swap with:
1. You can register your property with Homes4D&G House Exchange scheme and look for local properties.
2. You can sign up to the nationwide HomeSwapper scheme, UK’s largest property swap service. The service allows tenants across the whole of the country to make a mutual exchange rather than sit on waiting or transfer lists to move elsewhere.
In Dumfries and Galloway, you can access HomeSwapper for free if you are a tenant of:
- Home Scotland
- Irvine Housing Association
You can still use HomeSwapper if you are a tenant of DGHP. However you will be charged for using the service.
3. You can ask around and speak to your neighbours and find out if anyone is looking for a property similar to yours. You never know what’s on your doorstep.
DGHP is now part of Wheatley Group, Scotland’s largest housing, care and property-management group. This does not affect our tenants’ access to any of the exchange options listed above.
